Winter Weather Takes a Toll on Ground Markings

April 14, 2014

Under normal circumstances, winter weather is particularly bad on roads and other paved areas because of the effects of the elements such as rain, snow, wind (and of course, multiple layers of salt/brine). It's no surprise then, that the record-breaking weather over the past winter has taken a toll on such surfaces. The normal paving/road repair is important for obvious reasons, but it's imperative to refresh ground markings as well. These markings relay crucial information to those who drive, walk, park, work, and/or play utilizing these paved outdoor spaces. For this reason, surface markings should be redone on a regular basis so they remain highly visible for optimum safety and usage.?

?A quality formula paint with high pigment is critical so that it is not affected by water and other elements. Yellow and white colors are used to designate traffic lanes on roads and delineate spaces in a parking lot. Blue paint is used to designate handicapped spaces and red indicates fire lanes. Many colors are also available for various marking purposes on playing fields and a host of other outdoor areas.

??Hand held applicator wands are great for small jobs, making application clean an easy. A Komelon measure wheel and paint marking combo serves a dual purpose in paint marking as well as measuring. The wheels are user-friendly, durable and can greatly enhance the speed of any paint marking job.?
