Three Key Components to Create a Safer Work Zone
September 06, 2015
Nearly 70 percent of worker fatalities at road construction sites involve a pedestrian worker being struck by a vehicle. The importance of setting up a work zone to prevent such hazards is crucial. Here are three key components to maximize safety in a work zone:
- Traffic cones are the first line of defense against accidents in work zones. The bright colors enable vehicle operators to see, and slow down, prior to reaching an area that may be dangerous to road workers or the driver themselves.
- For increased visibility, traffic cone signs can quickly and easily be attached to any traffic cone. These signs can both guide the traffic more effectively through work zones and also serve as a verbal/visual reminder to drive slowly and cautiously.
- To create an even more effective safety barrier, retractable cone bars can be attached to regular traffic cones. These lightweight bars simply expand & fit over any standard traffic cone to create an instant barrier and traffic control around a site.
