Scaffold Safety in 6 Simple Steps

Falls are the number one cause of injuries and fatalities in the industry with falls from scaffolding being one of the major causes of these deaths and injuries. Fortunatley, scaffolding falls can be easily prevented with the right preparation and use:
- Be sure scaffolding is set on a solid level base
- Ensure that access and egress to the scaffold meet OSHA requirements
- Use fully planked scaffolds and be sure there is stable footing throughout
- Complete all guardrails
- Have a supervisor or other competent person inspect scaffold prior to use
- If the scaffolding platform is 10ft or higher proper fall protection must be used, either in the form of a personal arrest system or guardrail system.
