Decrease the Risks of Slips, Trips, and Falls With Industrial Floor Signs

January 07, 2014

In the winter months, it is excellent business practice to ensure that parking lots and walkways are clear of snow and ice to prevent slips, trips and falls. But there is an equal and perhaps even greater danger once people enter a building. Water, snow and ice that get tracked in from the outside create pools of water on floors that are often smooth and polished. This can produce conditions even more treacherous than those outdoors.

Fortunately, businesses can significantly reduce the dangers of indoor slips, trips, and falls by utilizing industrial floor signs. These bright, durable, polyethylene signs clearly delineate dangerous areas and prevent accidents from occurring by alerting pedestrians to hazardous areas. It is important that the signage be stamped with a clear message on both sides using an English/Spanish bilingual message. OSHA recommends a minimum of four to five wet floor signs for the typical three-entrance building. This would allow a wet floor sign for each entrance and two extra to be used in the event of spills that might take place somewhere else in the facility while other signs are being used.
